Sandra “Sandy” Griffin, 51, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, has passed away unexpectedly while on a family vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Her death has left her family, friends, and community members grieving the loss of a deeply loved wife, mother, and active community volunteer.
Sandy passed away on August 13, 2026, after spending the day with her family hiking and enjoying time outdoors in the Grand Teton region. Her passing has been met with profound sorrow from those who knew her, as they remember a life defined by love, service, and dedication to others.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Griffin, and their three children — Kian (15), Bode (13), and Reese (12). Her family was the center of her life, and she was widely described as a devoted “Mama Bear” whose love, encouragement, and constant presence shaped her children’s lives in meaningful ways.
Born in Yonkers, New York, Sandy attended Maria Regina High School and later graduated from Manhattan College in the Bronx. She spent part of her early career working in the New York fashion industry before stepping away to focus on raising her family in Ridgefield.
In Ridgefield, Sandy became a well-known and deeply respected figure within the community. She dedicated countless hours to school programs, youth sports organizations, and local events, helping create opportunities for children and supporting families throughout the area. Her involvement included leadership roles in school productions and active participation in multiple parent and volunteer organizations.
